“The Boogiemen are absolutely one of the best musical groups I have ever heard. The kind of music they play is liked by people of all different age groups and the quality of their music is amazing. Recently our family from New Jersey heard them play for the first time at our daughter’s wedding and they were shocked at how great they are. One of their best qualities is their personality and how wonderful they are to work with. In addition, they have supported our community through their generosity.”

Fishermen’s Village is honored and delighted to host The Boogiemen Band for our annual “Lighting of the Village” which takes place each November to kick off our Festival of Lights. This event has always been successful. . . however, with the addition of this incredible Punta Gorda icon, the event is now “over the top” with attendance and excitement! Mike Riley beams when he tells us how much they look forward to playing at the Village because the night is so “magical”. The feeling is mutual because the Boogiemen blow everyone away with their talent, joy and love of community!

The Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce’s Pacesetter Award recognizes local leaders who have gone “above and beyond” to help our community. When Riley accepted our Pacesetter Award in September 2012, he said the award was not just for him, but for the whole band who have given unselfishly their time and talent to hundreds of non-profit organizations. The Boogiemen are entertaining, fun and talented musicians and compassionate and caring citizens.

The Boogiemen and the Cultural Center have partnered together to benefit not only the Cultural Center’s nonprofit mission but other nonprofits. To date, over $20,000 have been raised for local nonprofits such as Southwest Florida Honor Flight, Back to School Supplies, Yah-Yah Girls Backpack Kidz Program, Port Charlotte Bandits and Smuggler’s Foundation. The Boogiemen have supported our community, and specifically our youth and military by sharing their harmonic talents to better our hometown. We are a better community because of the Boogiemen’s support.

“When you engage The BoogieMen, you get far more than great music by uniquely talented musicians … you get a group of unbelievably warm-hearted, down-to-earth fun-loving people who go that very important extra mile to make a lasting and memorable connection with their audience. You have only to see and hear them once, and you’re hooked as yet another of their countless thousands of loyal fans. The sound of The BoogieMen is solid, full, and clear as a bell, yet soft and smooth enough to fill your heart just as easily as it can fill a concert hall and the hearts of an entire audience or community. I first heard The BoogieMen at Harpoon Harry’s at the end of Fishermen’s Village when I moved to Punta Gorda in 1993, and I’ve been hooked on them ever since. Each of the band’s members, in keeping with the caring heart of the band’s founder, Mike Riley, commits their hearts, along with his, to performing “gratis” for numerous community-based nonprofit fundraising events each year as their way of giving back to the community that has supported them with unwavering loyalty ever since the birth of The BoogieMen.

Whoever put the “boogie” into these men — and women — injected the BoogieMen band not only with inspired musical talent but a steadfast commitment to community.
Named Best Band in Florida Weekly’s 2010 “Best Of” edition, the 20-something-year-old R&B group works hard to raise money and awareness for causes that matter — from a playground for special needs kids to Haiti relief to saving the Punta Gorda Block party.
In fact, bandleader Mike Riley earned another tribute in Florida Weekly’s 2011 “Best Of:” Best Eponymous Award. The Riley Award was first bestowed upon the bandleader himself, and in subsequent years, has been presented to the person who most embodies selflessness and community giving.
Yes, the band opened for Grand Funk and Herman’s Hermits when they came to town — and for the Beach Boys before a crowd of 7,000 at the Charlotte Sports Complex. Yes, they’re regulars at Harpoon Harry’s. But more likely than not, you’ll be dancing in the aisles with the BoogieMen when there’s a cause that matters.
Next year, the BoogieMen band turns 25. We’re hoping for another quarter-century of great music, good times and good vibrations.

DB Sound Systems, LLC has worked with The Boogiemen for many years on our concert stage. The Boogiemen are always a joy to work with as being a talented, professional group of musicians. The Boogiemen is a large band but surprisingly due to their professionalism they are easy up and easy out always on time for sound check and cooperative to the largest degree.
The Boogiemen always pack the house and put on a great show!
