After more than 36 years of rock and soul review, The BoogieMen have played their final encore. While the stage may be quiet now, the music we made together continues to echo in the hearts of everyone who danced along with us.
This journey began with a simple, heartfelt vision from our founder, Michael Riley: to pursue his lifelong passion for the guitar and to find a meaningful way to give back to the community. Riley says he only knows 3 chords and is not sure what order to play them, so he surrounds himself with talented musicians from teens to old timers.
What started as a personal love for music blossomed into a decades-long mission to uplift, entertain, and celebrate the local talent that makes our area so special. Four of our previous band mates were students from our local high schools who filled in for us and are now Band directors in our school systems around the area.
Though we are no longer booking new gigs, we invite you to enjoy our website and Facebook page (The BoogieMen Official page) to relive the magic. We will keep our digital sites open as a tribute to our past bandmates and as a place where you can still enjoy the photos and some videos that capture the high-energy spirit of our shows.
FROM RILEY:
None of this would have been possible without you. From the first note to the very last beat, your energy and support fueled every performance. It has been a profound honor to celebrate through music alongside all of you for over three decades.
Thank you for being part of our story and for letting us be part of yours. The music lives on in the memories we made together!
With deepest gratitude,
The BoogieMen Playing at Visani’s.
The year was 1990 and it marked a turning point for music lovers on the west coast of Florida. That was the year that the band called The BoogieMen was formed. From the time he was a young teen Mike Riley’s dream was to have the biggest and best band in his town. He has accomplished just that. Riley has that rare personality that everyone that meets him wants to be a part of whatever it is that he is involved with. That trait saw the band grow to its present size of 10 members, which is a rare find in today’s bands. The size of this Rock and Soul Orchestra provides for a rich blend of vocals and instruments that keeps people coming back again and again to enjoy The BoogieMen Experience.
The BoogieMen are in high demand for events such as Weddings, Festivals, Private Parties, Conventions and Corporate Events.
The band puts their heart and soul into every performance, treating them all like a concert. Because they are Charlotte County’s premier band, they have been asked to open for some of the top bands in the country: The Beach Boys, Kansas, The Edgar Winter Group, Grand Funk RailRoad, Rick Derringer, Bertie Higgins, Dr. Hook, The Lovin Spoonful, Derek Trucks, Confederate Railroad, The Rascals, “Dangerous Dan Toler”, Herman’s Hermits, Rare Earth, Tinsley Ellis, The Outlaws, Grand Funk Railroad, The Grass Roots, Blues Traveler and Here Come the Mummies.
For Thirty-four years, The BoogieMen have “Rocked the House” at Harpoon Harry’s one weekend a month till it closed down.
Come, Skip the Light Fandango and turn Cartwheels cross the Floor…..
